CARL M. JOHNSON MEMORIAL
Free Tractor Giveaway

Winner of the Carl M Johnson Free Tractor Giveaway at the James Valley Threshers Show
We have a winner!

The Carl M. Johnson Legacy -

Carl Johnson loved to tell stories about the past! He was born in 1919 and would often talk about farming with a team of horses, shocking grain and threshing, and how farming changed when they began using tractors instead of horses. Carl and his family became involved in the James Valley Threshing Association in 1981.Carl always drove his favorite Rumely in the Andover parade each year until his death in March 2009.

In 2010 the Johnson family decided to annually donate a tractor in Carl's memory, to go to a young person between the ages of 10 and 20. The winner is chosen by drawing, and entry is free. The hope is to stimulate future interest in collecting and showing antique tractors. So far, a youngster has won a tractor in each James Valley Threshers Show. Our young winners continue the James Valley Threshing Association traditions of collecting, learning about, using and restoring vintage tractors.
The Free Tractor winner is drawn Sunday afternoon:

The next tractor will be given away at our Show in September, the first weekend after Labor day. All persons from 10 to 20 years of age can register for free once a day, Friday through Sunday, at the Threshers Park Souvenir Shop. Under 18 must be accompanied by an adult. The drawing will be after the parade on Sunday.
